Well we finally sent the immigration package to Canada… which is why I haven’t been posting here. It’s been like 6 weeks with this stuff. Reading the guides, getting documents, getting said documents translated or notarized. It really is intense for something that is basically just paperwork.
Rachel is immigrating to Canada with [...]

Kai En’s Closing
December 19th, 2009 · 6 Comments
I guess I should comment on Kai En English Training School shutting down since I taught there for about four years. I knew the founders personally, and worked there both when it was small and the big schools like EF were just arriving, and later when it was on the way down.
So it’s toast, [...]

Last Year in China
October 7th, 2009 · 1 Comment
After pretty much begging my wonderful wife for one more year in China, this is it. It’s my final year in China, so I better enjoy it. Since coming here in 2003 I’ve had the pleasure of calling Shanghai my home, while also bashing it fairly consistently. I’ve had a lot [...]

A Change in Tone
June 28th, 2009 · No Comments
Ok so maybe it’s because I’ve been reading the Bloggess lately or I’ve had it with being Mr. Niceguy, or I’m just feel like well thought out posts just suck to think of and write. And I’ve been having a serious problem sitting down and writing about Shanghai and living in China. It’s [...]

All Work and No Play Make Jack a Dull Boy
April 23rd, 2009 · 1 Comment
So I’m in China, but I haven’t noticed for a while. I’ve been working like a dog. 4 university classes (four real, upper year classes from UBC, not piddly little basket-weaving courses) and a variety of teaching gigs has meant that I haven’t sat down to study Chinese in about 3 months, not [...]

My life has been more than slightly busy recently, and though it’s awful to say, this blog has taken a back seat. Not only am I working two jobs and taking nearly a full load of classes online (four, [...]

Have been writing but…
December 4th, 2008 · No Comments
Not sure why, but the admin part of my site has been moving at just a little less than light speed the past 8 weeks or so. I have been writing the odd post, but been saving them on the desktop and waiting to spring them on… well, no one, since anyone interested in [...]

Well, China Segment got a big upgrade yesterday. I finally went and upgraded Wordpress to version 2.5, and let me tell you, it was not the funnest job I’ve ever done. Actually it was easier and went more smoothly than I anticipated. Thankfully it’s all done and I can get back to [...]

Lack of Posts
March 23rd, 2008 · 1 Comment
I’m going to have to apologize to my 3 or 4 readers out there for the serious lapse in posts this month. I promise to get back to 5 or so posts per week.
A few things have combined to limit my postings 1. being a bit more busy with work, 2. a lack of [...]

Explaining My Absence
February 18th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Well, I’ve been in Hong Kong. Though even before I got here I’d been slacking a bit. I’ve been working on a project that hopefully will bear some fruit soon. But still, no use excuse for the lack of writing. I’ll try to catch up to the daily pace I was setting [...]
